Camping has, over the years, changed from being considered as a low-end type of vacation to something everyone wants to indulge in. Now, imagine putting your efforts towards finding the best camping site, getting every kind of supply that you need, then all that going to the drain because you did a thing or two wrongly — avoidable things. Well, it might not be entirely perfect, but you should have control over your comfort, safety, and the amount of fun you will have out there. Here are five avoidable things you should adhere to during your camping.

1. Don’t Be a Loner

Camping involves you going to unfamiliar terrains, and encountering different types of danger won’t be a surprising thing. The last thing you want is dealing with these kinds of situations alone. Make sure you tag someone with you for safety or at least company.

If you have to hike alone, inform someone about your trail and when you are planning to return. At least that way, someone will have your back, and in case you take too long, they’ll inform others or come looking for you.

2. Carry Enough Supplies

Your camping area might have everything that you need, but you may never know when they will run out of tissue paper. You might be following a specific trail and all of a sudden, you feel the urge to take a dump. In such an instance, your tissue paper can come in handy.

Moreover, no one should be conscious of your health more than you! Be sure to have enough drinking water, a complete first aid kit, insect repellants, sleeping supplies just to name a few. Oh! Don’t forget your flashlight, how will you survive out there when darkness finds you in the trails?

 3. Do Not Leave Your Edibles Unattended!

You’ve probably come across animals like chipmunks, and you know how much they love human food. Your tent should be the last place you’d want to store your food. Those animals will make a mess in there, and you don’t want that.

The car wouldn’t be a wrong choice. But for places known to have bears, you might want to rethink that. Make sure you research thoroughly and meet the standards of the chosen destination.

4. Don’t Cook Inside Your Tent

Not only is it a potential hazard to cook inside your tent, but you risk poisoning too.

Carbon monoxide is a hazardous gas especially in poorly ventilated spaces. Avoid that at all costs. You can try cooking outdoor with a solar oven. The equipment required is readily available and it will be so much fun learning something new.

5. Don’t Arrive Late

Imagine arriving past sunset, you search for an unoccupied space, pitch your tent, unpack your bags, and prepare your sleeping area in the dark! Not forgetting all this time, you are trying to be as quiet as possible.

This is the type of stress that you should not put yourself through. Prepare adequately ahead of time and avoid any last-minute rush.

Now that you have cross-checked everything, you already know what to do and what to avoid, you are ready for your getaway. Don’t forget to have fun, laugh your lungs out, and try new things. Happy camping!
