Scholarships
Three student scholarships totaling $1500 and one teaching award of $500 will be presented each calendar year to 3 deserving students who will pursue a college or vocational education after high school and one faculty member. One general scholarship is available to all Kennett Juniors and Seniors, and two employee scholarships are available to Kennett students working at the campground.
General Scholarship
Saco River Family Camping Commitment to the MWV Scholarship
$500
Who: Open to all current Kennett High School Juniors and Seniors for each academic year,
This scholarship will be awarded to one Kennett student who exemplifies the spirit of a good citizen and a love for the Mount Washington Valley. The winner should demonstrate a commitment to the community, its people, and its beautiful natural places. We are looking for someone who demonstrates compassion, humility, and charity. A 250-word essay on why they are deserving of this scholarship will be required from the applicant.
The scholarship will be awarded in May of each year. The recipient will be determined by a panel of three persons made up of the Saco River Family Camping leadership team.
Employee Future Leader Scholarship
Saco River Family Camping Employee Future Leader Scholarship
$500
Who: All current employees in good standing who are in their junior/senior year in the summer of each year are eligible to be chosen.
This scholarship will be awarded to the employee who demonstrates leadership abilities through accountability, integrity, creativeness, empathy, dependability, and a commitment to our customers.
The scholarship will be awarded in August of each year. The recipient will be determined by a panel of three persons made up of the Saco River Family Camping leadership team.
Employee Hospitality Scholarship
Saco River Family Camping Employee Hospitality Scholarship
$500
Who: All current employees in good standing who are in their junior or senior year in the summer of that year are eligible to be chosen.
This scholarship will be awarded to the employee who demonstrates a passion for the hospitality/tourism industry through work ethic, customer service, and the desire to learn and grow in the industry.
Scholarship will be awarded in August of each year. Recipient will be determined by panel of three persons made up from the Saco River Family Camping leadership team.
Teacher Award
Saco River Family Camping Commitment to Excellence Teaching Award
$500
Who: Faculty member of Kennett High School
This award will be given to a teacher who exemplifies a commitment to their students. They engage and inspire their students and ignite a passion for continued learning. This award will recognize the lasting impact a great teacher can have on young people as they instill in his/her pupils a self-belief that they can overcome obstacles and accomplish their goals. In addition to the monetary award a plaque will be given to recognize the outstanding efforts of the teacher. (The monies given are to be used for improving the classroom experience for students.) Recipients will be chosen from nominations either from peers or students with a brief synopsis on why they are deserving of the award.
Award will be presented in May of each year. Recipient will be determined by panel of three persons. (Two members of the Saco River Camping Family Camping Team and one member of Kennett High School Administration.)
*checks will be written out to the educational institution of the student’s choosing. In some cases, if this is unknown, monies will be held until student determines which school they will attend.
